A digestive latte to settle your tummy, satisfy your sweet tooth and cut back on your caffeine intake

A deeply delicious and nourishing digestive golden milk latte to help settle your tummy, satisfy your sweet tooth and cut back on your coffee intake.

Everything you eat affects the way you feel - for better or for worse.

And when it comes to recipes that make you feel great, this digestive latte is where it’s at.

I started drinking this in the thick of my postpartum recovery several years ago to help reduce inflammation, boost my milk supply and fire up digestion.

But it’s the kind of tonic that could benefit anyone - not just new and recovering mothers.

Made with nut milk, a slew of vibrant and flavorful digestive spices, a date for a touch of sweetness and coconut oil (or ghee) - this drink is truly as delicious as it is insanely good for you.

Health Perks

  • It’s very low in sugar - especially when you compare it to store-bought golden milk powders or similar recipes online, which typically call for maple syrup and honey. Instead, I use a date, which is a more nutritious sweetener. It also provides gives the drink a boost of fiber and antioxidants.

  • Includes a slew of spices like turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom and ginger. The benefits here range from reducing digestive distress and strengthening digestive fire to reducing inflammation.

  • it may help you cut out that second cup of coffee. If you need to scale back on your caffeine intake, this will give you a slight boost thanks to the small amount of sugar in dates and offers some nourishment since it’s incredibly warming.

  • A small tsp of coconut oil or ghee not only enhances the overall flavor but lends a slightly oily effect which can help aid digestion by allowing food to pass through the digestive tract more easily. Adding a source of fat, like coconut oil or ghee, also enhances the bioavailability of turmeric so you can receive its benefits in all their glory..

Other Thoughts, Tips, and Suggestions

  • If you like your lattes sweet, but don’t want to increase your sugar intake you can try a couple drops of stevia. Toffee flavored stevia is delicious in this blend.

  • Add a very small pinch of black pepper to enhance the anti-inflammatory effects of turmeric. You don’t want to add too much, because you don’t want to actually taste the black pepper.
