Introducing my 'weekly bits of wellness'

Introducing my 'weekly bits of wellness'

Happy Friday fellow wellness seekers!

I hope you had a productive and fullfilling week.

I’m really excited to introduce a new component to the blog, aptly titled ‘Weekly Bits of Wellness’, which will contain a shortlist of some of the things I enjoyed over the past week.

From books or articles I read and podcasts I’ve listened to, to new foods, products and workouts I’ve tried and loved that you might enjoy too.

As always, if there is anything you want to see or hear more about, or experiences you want to share, please leave your thoughts in the comments section below.

Wishing you all a weekend filled with wellness!

What I’m reading - Company of One by Paul Jarvis, which makes a compelling case about why staying small is the next thing for business. One of my favorite passages in the book is: Your purpose is the lens through which you filter all your business decisions, from the tiny to the monumental. We’re talking about who you work with, what you offer, where you focus your time and energy, and even how you define your audience.

What I’m listening to - Lebron James and his trainer Mike Mancias on The Tim Ferris Show podcast, discussing some of the details of his very personal self-care and wellness routine, including: diet, training, recovery and how he makes sure that he gets all the sleep he needs, even when he’s on the road.

What I’m eating - Trader Joes Cauliflower Gnocchi. I love having a light option like this when I’m craving comfort food but don’t want to sabotage my diet (it’s only ingredients are cauliflower, cassava flour, potato starch, extra virgin olive oil and sea salt). I keep things relatively simply when preparing it by using the recommended amount of olive oil while cooking, and simply adding a bit of minced garlic and a few tablespoons of grated vegan cheese on top. Hot tip: use 1/8 cup of water instead of the recommended 1/4 cup; this way it will come out crispy as opposed to soggy.

How I’m moving - MWH Method by Melissa Wood Health. I’ve been following Melissa Wood on Instagram for a while and at 25 weeks pregnant, I finally took the initiative to try her no-fuss targeted pilates and yoga flows, which range from 10 to 40 minutes and can be done with little or no equipment, from anywhere. I like to combine the videos and do an arm and leg series, or a full body flow followed by an arm series - which amounts to 30 - 40 minutes each day. The movements are easy enough for just about anyone to do, but man, your muscles will burn!

Product I’m loving - Phyto Corrective Masque by Skinceuticals. After running out of my favorite H.A. Intensifier serum, I needed something to keep my skin feeling hydrated. While this product is marketed as calming face mask to rehydrate and soothe temporarily reactive skin, I’ve been using it in place of the H.A Intensifier serum each night night and leaving it on as an overnight mask because it’s loaded with hyaluronic acid and feels incredibly hydrating and restorative.

Mantra I’m feeling - ‘I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure - which is: Try to please everybody ‘ - Herbert Bayard Swope.
